" what shall it profit a camper if he gain the service of a grand hotel and lose the easy camaraderie which made a holiday camp so refreshingly different from anywhere else"

Goodnight campers, Ward and Hardy 1986

In August 2003 I returned from yet another enjoyable holiday at Mundesley Holiday Camp. Where I met up with my Family and old friends, many of whom I have known for over 30 years . Unfortunately the current owners of the camp have decided that they now wish the camp to be entirely the preserve of those in their retirement years and that despite the decades of attendance we are no longer welcome. The quote above was taken from Holiday camp review in may 1939 in response to the commercialization of camps and is perhaps as relevant today as it was then.

To preserve the memories of campers and Staff alike I have therefore embarked on producing this Web site which I hope will bring back happy memories, for those like myself who were brought up holidaying at small independently run holiday camps such as Mundesley. I hope that visitors will feel that they wish to contribute to the site with there own memories, photographs or just pop in to say Hi. There is a guest book for on line contributions or visitors can email me and I will update the site on a regular basis with your contributions..

The site has now been up and running for 18 months and I have received many contributions from staff and campers alike. I would like to thank everybody who has contributed and encourage anybody who has any further information to contact me at the address below. Over the forthcoming months I will be updating the site and moving to a new server please I hope that this will go smoothly but if you come across any problems please do not hesitate to let me know.
